Announcements

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome back to all our learners and parents to the beginning of Term 2. Hopefully you are all well-rested and ready for the challenges that come with the second term. I would like to bring the following matters to your attention:

SCHOOL WHATSAPP CHAT GROUPS (2026):

You can join the school’s various WhatsApp chat groups by clicking on each relevant Grade’s below:

SCHOOL TIMES:
Please ensure that your child is at school by the latest 07:15, as classes start at 07:20 already. Many of our learners still come to school late and then parents or transport providers are very upset with us when the child is late for school.

CELL PHONES:
Please note that NO cell phones are allowed at school.  The school will not take responsibility for any cell phones that get stolen or lost.  If a child is caught using a cell phone at school, the phone will be confiscated, and parents will have to come and fetch the phone from school.  A R200,00 penalty is payable before a cell phone will be returned to the parent.

SICK LEARNERS:
We request parents again not to send sick learners to school.  We phone several parents per day, shortly after the start of the school day, to come and fetch sick children from school. Please keep sick children at home as we are not equipped to accommodate sick children in class.

UPDATED CONTACT INFORMATION:
There are still many children who do not know a parent’s cell phone number, or do not have an emergency contact number written down somewhere in or on the inside flap of the bookcase or the diary.  In case of an emergency or even when there is an accident on the way to or from school, it is so much easier for any person to look in the bag, find a contact number and get hold of a parent or guardian immediately.  Please make sure that you update your contact details regularly.  It is very important for us to be able to get hold of you in case of an emergency.

GRADE 7 – UPDATED INFORMATION:
All grade 7 learners will receive printouts next week with all learner and family information as we have it on our system. Parents of grade 7 learners are requested to please check the information and correct the wrong information on the printout.  The printout must then be sent back to school by Monday 20 April.

ASSESSMENTS:
The teachers are busy with assessments in class, every day. Many children are absent on assessment days and thereafter on the days when second and even third opportunities were arranged.  Please note that the child must have a legal excuse when absent to be given a second opportunity to complete assessments not done.

STATIONERY:
We are experiencing problems with many children who come to school without stationery.  Please ensure that stationery is topped up regularly, as this borrowing and lending of stationery causes many fights between children.  Thank you for your kind cooperation.

FOUNDATION PHASE (Grade 1, 2 and 3) RACA:
All categories’ practice will take place every Wednesday from 13:40 to 14:30. Please make sure that you make the necessary transport arrangements for your child to be picked up on time.

STEALING OF FOOD AND LUNCH BOXES:
A few children are stealing food from other learners’ lunch boxes, or sometimes the whole lunch box gets stolen.  Please speak to your children about this very concerning matter and let them understand that there will be consequences when caught.

NETBALL AND MINI NETBALL PRACTISE:
Netball and Mini Netball practice will take place on a Wednesday and Thursday starting on 15th of April from 13:45 until 15:00. Please arrange transport accordingly. Players who are not collected timeously will unfortunately not be considered for team selection, as educators cannot be expected to babysit players outside of practice times.

SOCCER SELECTION:
The selection of teams will happen as follows:
  • Monday 13 April – Under 13 boys – 13:45 until 15:00
  • Tuesday 14 April – Under 12 boys – 13:45 until 15:00
  • Wednesday 15 April – Under 11 boys – 13:45 until 15:00

Please arrange your child’s transport accordingly.

MINI SOCCER:
Mini Soccer practise will commence on the 22nd of April from 13: 45 until 14:30. From the following week, practises will take place on both Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please make suitable arrangements for children to be fetched at 14:45, as no supervision will be available after practise time.

GENERAL SPORT RULES:
All children participating in sport must wear comfortable tracksuit pants or shorts for practises. “Takkies” or other comfortable shoes are essential when practising.  Coaches will give clear guidelines of their expectations during the first practise. Learners should change during 2nd break to enable them to start the practise on time.

OFFICE HOURS:
  • Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 14:00
  • Friday: 07:30 – 13:00
  • No money can be accepted after these specified times, for safety and security reasons
