Announcements

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Following a very busy week, please take note of the important matters below:

SCHOOL WHATSAPP CHAT GROUPS (2026):

You can join the school’s various WhatsApp chat groups by clicking on each relevant Grade’s below:

SICK LEARNERS:
We kindly remind you to keep sick children at home. Calling parents to collect ill learners during the school day disrupts teaching and causes inconvenience.

LEARNER RE-REGISTRATION FOR 2026:
Re-registration forms were sent out this week. Please check and update the information before returning the form to school.

Important: If your form is not returned by the deadline, it will be assumed that your child is leaving at the end of the year, and their place may be allocated to someone on the waiting list. Late submissions may require you to reapply for 2027. For queries, contact Ms. Ntombela at 011 953 1930 or thembi@paardies.co.za.

CONTACT DETAILS ON DETENTION FORMS:
Please ensure your contact information is included on detention forms. Some learners sign these forms themselves, and parents are unaware of the detention. This leads to children being stranded after school. As many learners do not know their parents’ numbers, please ensure a contactable number is provided for follow-up if needed.

SUSPENSION OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Due to the upcoming School-Based Tests starting Thursday 8 May, all netball, chess, and RACA practices and matches are suspended until further notice to allow learners time to prepare. Soccer continues for this week due to pre-scheduled matches.

CONTROLLED TESTS:
Please find the roster for the mid-year School Based Controlled Tests which will be starting on Thursday the 28th of May. Please ensure that your children are well prepared for these tests. Demarcations were handed out last week already.

EARLY SCHOOL CLOSURE – CONTROLLED TESTS:
From Thursday, 28 May 2026, the school will close daily at 13:00 for the duration of the Controlled Tests. All learners from Grade RR to Grade 7 must be collected no later than 13:15.

Note: Learners not collected on time will be unsupervised, and the school will not be held liable for any incidents.

CELL PHONES AND SOCIAL MEDIA:
Please monitor your child’s use of social media and online platforms (e.g., Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube). We’ve encountered cases of inappropriate content being shared among learners. We urge you to install parental controls to block access to harmful material.

REMINDER:
Cell phones and smart watches are not allowed at school unless handed in at the start of the day and collected afterward. Phones found in learners’ possession during school hours will be confiscated, and a R200 fine will be required for return.

ROUGH PLAY:
We kindly ask parents to speak with their children about the importance of safe and respectful play. Recently, we have noticed an increase in rough games, including violent kicking and similar activities. These behaviours are not enjoyable for others and can cause harm, and must stop.
